Yoga for Parkinsons with Neeru Prashar
Wed September 11th – 2:30 p.m. – 3:30 p.m.

Did you know that yoga is extremely beneficial for Parkinson’s disease (PD)? It helps to increase flexibility, improve posture, loosen tight, painful muscles and enhance the quality of life. The scientific studies support hatha yoga for persons with PD, which not just improves the mobility but also the functional mobility and how a person with PD walks. Yoga improves balance, thus may also reduce the fear of falling, which can also help keep people with PD active in the community. The calming effect of yoga (by enhancing parasympathetic output) may lessen perceived stress, enhance relaxation, and benefit sleep. In this class we will use chairs for seated and standing postures, but it is open for people who can get down on to the floor as well. The instructor will give variations and options
