ACTIVE AGING SERIES: SOLO TRAVEL FOR WOMEN!

On Wednesday, February 28, 2024, we launched our new Active Aging Series with our first presentation, Solo Travel For Women.  It was a fun morning with 48 ladies joining us for coffee, muffins, commradiere and education.

He also gave us some great tips for traveling with medication and educated us about the resources available online from the Government of Canada (https://travel.gc.ca/) that has resources such as:

We spent some time on this website and would like to encourage you to check it out BEFORE you travel

TRAVELING WITH MEDICATIONS & TRAVEL IMMUNIZATIONS

First up, was our long-time Friends of WSAC partner/presenter Wael Soliman from Terra Losa Pharmacy who did a wonderful presentation outlining the types of vaccinations that may be needed as we travel.

WHAT’S ON YOUR BUCKET LIST – SOLO TRAVEL VS TRAVELLING SOLO

Up next was Alison Philips from Network Travel.  Members who attend our wine and whiskey tasting events will know Alison as the co-owner of Aligra Wine & Spirits.  For over 25 years, Alison has also be a travel agent so we were very excited to have her as one of our presenters.  Alison got us all thinking when she asked us “Where have you always wanted to travel”.

She gave a wonderful presentation that explained the difference between traveling on our own vs traveling on our own but with a group tour.  She also provided some really good tips on things to take when we travel, how to be safe, and got all of us thinking about the amazing places to see in the world!

CRUISING OPTIONS

We invited Ulrika Chapman of Expedia Cruises (9110 142 St NW, Edmonton) to educate us on the different crusing options available for quick and easy trips for us living here in Edmonton.  She showed us some options for the Pacific West Coast, the Mexican Riveria, Alaska and Canada/New England and left most of us wanting to do ALL of the trips!  She also covered things like solo options, excursions and more!

We did a poll, asking our attendees if they would be interested in us hosting a ladies travel trip and there was a definite YES from everyone.  A show of hands showed that most of the ladies in attendance would be interested in the Canada/New England cruise.  We will be pulling information together and sharing it with our members soon!

A MINI TRADESHOW!

We took a break in between presentations to that our attendees had a chance to talk to our guest speakers, ask questions and pick up valuable resources!

A BUS TRIP TO Haida Gwaii

We ended our event with Nagel Tours telling us about their planned bus tour to Haida Gwaii, BC.  The presenter had gorgeous photos from their bus tour and gave us a day by day breakdown of what their bus tour would look like.

LADIES TRIP WITH WSAC – WHERE WOULD YOU LIKE TO GO?

WSAC LADIES TRIP – DO YOU WANT TO JOIN US?

We are going to look at the options available for a ladies trip!  We will be doing a poll to see if our members (and their girlfriends, daughters, etc) would like to go to Alaska, the West Coast or Canada/New England.  Make sure to watch our newsletter, website and Facebook page for details coming soon!
