FEATURED INSTRUCTOR – FREYA GIROUX
Freya is a passionate Instructor offering 38 years of teaching experience across many disciplines. Having grown up on a small farm close to Pigeon Lake, riding horseback and doing yoga with her mom she became a second-generation yogi.
Freya fell in love with dance and gymnastics and at one time was the youngest gymnastics coach in all of Canada. As finances were limited for the family, Freya would work and clean studios and a gym to pay for her classes. When she finished High School she became a missionary and traveled overseas. When coming back to Canada she continued her dance and yoga goals. Freya dabbled in most forms of dance but fell head over heels for Ballet. She achieved her goal and became a professional dancer. Freya performed and trained in ballet for many years with such companies as Edmonton Festive Ballet, Ballet North and Royal Winnipeg. Modern Dance also became a passion for Freya and she studied and performed with the Brian Webb Dance, Mile Zero, and other companies. To this day, Freya loves to dance and produce choreography.
Freya is a licensed Minister and works closely with Alberta Street News, serving Edmonton’s inner city. She is the Founder of Wild Krampus YEG and is a real-life Viking and a member of Vinland’s Raves. She loves to cosplay, ride motorcycles, play video games, camp, travel, go to movies, go caving, shoot at the range, and much more. Everything Freya does in life she does with passion and puts her whole heart into it. Freya ran away with the Mexican circus when they came to town for a year! She gives her knowledge freely and loves to perform.
