The Presenters

Dr. Paul Humphries, with 47 years of experience in Family Medicine, currently serves as Professor Emeritus in the Department of Family Medicine at the University of Alberta. Additionally, he plays a pivotal role as the Community Lead Physician for AHS North Sector MAID Care Coordinating Team, focusing on Home Palliative Care. Outside his professional realm, Dr. Humphries and his wife, Sybil, find fulfillment in raising horses and cherishing time with their grandchildren in Alberta.

 

Nina Lewans is a Registered Nurse with over 18 years of nursing experience. She has been involved with the MAiD program since 2018, finding fulfillment in working with end-of-life care, patient advocacy, and personal autonomy. Nina’s diverse nursing background includes critical care, adult and pediatric intensive care, hematology, and Navigation. She brings a compassionate and empathetic approach to her work, making a positive impact on the lives of her patients.
