Heart Valve Disease Awareness Week (Calendar)

Heart Valve Disease Awareness Week (Calendar)

Heart valve disease is common, serious, and treatable—but its symptoms are often mistaken for a normal part of aging.  Breathlessness, dizziness or fatigue are all signs you might have heart valve disease. But some people have no symptoms at all.
Join Dr. Tyrrell for an informative presentation about heart valve disease, including common signs and symptoms, risk factors, the importance of early detection, and available treatment options.

This special event is exclusive to WE Seniors members!

Date: Monday, September 21, 2026
  • 1:45 to 2:30 p.m. – Presentation by Dr. Ben Tyrell (Community Cafe)
  • 2:45 to 4:00 p.m. – Free stethoscope check (Boardroom)
A simple stethoscope check is the first step to detect heart valve disease. So a regular stethoscope check with a healthcare provider is a good idea. So if you feel like something’s wrong, then listen to your heart!
Following the presentation, WE Seniors members are invited to visit the Boardroom for a simple stethoscope check on a walk-in basis. This is an opportunity to have your heart listened to and learn more about the importance of early detection of heart valve disease.
