WESeniors Amazing Race & Challenge = #WESeniorsChallenge

We are very excited to announce that we will be hosting our 3RD Annual WESeniors Amazing Race and Challenge on Tuesday, August 29th, 2023!

We are partnering with our Friends of WSAC partners and other Edmonton organizations to once again create a day of fun for seniors here in the greater Edmonton area!

In our last two events, 100+ seniors were given passports and race maps so they could visit our partners across Edmonton and area! The businesses had fun games, treats, and beverages for everyone who came to their place of business, our centre gave away over $500 in prizes and our participants loved it!

The coverage was fantastic with participants and businesses sharing their experiences with their family and friends on social media. During our first-ever event, we even had a tv crew follow one of the teams as they made their way around the city!

WHAT IS THE WESENIORS AMAZING RACE AND CHALLENGE

On Tuesday, August 29, 2023, at 9:30 a.m. you will start at our centre. 

We will give you an Amazing Race & Challenge Passport that will showcase all of the locations you can visit during your race.  Next, you will make your way through the passport, visiting our partners who will have some fun games and activities that we know you love to…old fashion games that you grew up playing!

  • tic tac toe,
  • pin the tail on the donkey,
  • bean bag toss,
  • lawn darts,
  • a fun photo booth and more!

           

       

PRIZES

Its not about who finishes the race the fastest…its all about earning points! 
The top 3 point earners will win some fantastic prizes!

  • 1ST PLACE = A gift basket valued at $200
  • 2ND PLACE = A gift basket valued at $100
  • 3RD PLACE = A gift basket valued at $50

PLUS
all 3 winners will receive a 2024 WSAC membership!

DETERMINING THE WINNERS

  • Winners of the Amazing Race & Challenge will be announced on Tuesday, September 5, 2023.  This is to allow WSAC staff to review all passports, review photos submitted (step 2) and calculate the total points for all participants to determine the top 3 winners.
  • The points have to be from different locations.  You cannot repeat a stop in the race.
  • If there is a tie, we will do a random draw to pick the winners.
  • All decisions are final.  We will work as a team to ensure we have identified the correct winners.

  • All of our sponsors will have a fun door prize up for grabs!
  • The more locations you visit = the more chances to win!
  • PLUS…treats, beverages, bling and more…each stop will have a little something for you!
  • EARN POINTS for each business that you visit in your Amazing Race Passport!
  • EARN POINTS WHEN YOU PARTICIPATE IN THEIR CHALLENGE – Each business will have an easy, fun game for you to play – Lawn darts, bean bag toss, mini golf, pin the tail on the donkey and more! Play and you have a chance to win event more points!
  • Your Amazing Race Passport will feature some of our favorite attractions here in Edmonton and area…our Legislature, the Muttart Conservatory, the Talus balls, and more!
  • Visit the attractions as you make your way through the Amazing Race and take a quick photo on your phone or ipad and you will earn EXTRA points along the way…its as easy as that!
  • Once you are done your amazing race, come by our centre and drop off your Amazing Race Passport so we can count up your points!
  • We will host a FREE BBQ – 4:00 to 6:00 p.m.!

PLEASE NOTE:

  • Once we have confirmed the number of participants we will finalize our passport locations and send all registrants an email confirming the details.

THE STARTING LINE & SIGNING IN

  • The Amazing Race starts Tuesday, August 29th at 9:30 a.m. at the Westend Seniors Activity Centre
  • You do not need to park and get out of your car…We will have a drive thru event where you can:
    • sign in so we know who is participating that day, and
    • we will give you your passport, maps, and BBQ tickets so you can head out on your adventure!

PRIZES

  • If you create a team or have a partner, you will determine amongst yourselves how you will share the prizes, door prizes, etc.
  • Each business will have a door prize.  The business will do their draw at the end of the day and then will follow up with the winner directly.  You will need to pick up your door prize from the location.

Remember to keep your Passport after the event as it is a fantastic business directory showcasing our Friends of WSAC partners!

PASSPORTS & POINTS

  • Each participant will receive their own passport.
  • If you are participating/traveling as a couple/family, we will still give each person their own passport so you can each participate in the challenges!

 

COLLECTING YOUR POINTS

  • Each business will update your passport with the amount of points you earned.
  • It is your responsibility to make sure your passport is updated with the correct amount of points at each of the locations you visit.  WSAC will not intervene.
  • All passports point pages must be turned in by 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday, August 29th, the day of our race
  • If you have taken photos during the Amazing Race (Step 2) and would like the points, you must email the photos to our centre at am*********@we*******.ca.  Your deadline for submitting photos is midnight Tuesday, August 29th, the day of our race
