Housing Supports and Navigating Changes
As we age, our housing needs and circumstances may change. Whether you are looking to remain in your current home, considering a move, or experiencing challenges with affordability, maintenance, or accessibility, knowing where to turn for support can make the process feel less overwhelming. You do not have to navigate housing changes alone. There are community resources and organizations that may be able to help you explore your options and understand available supports.
Housing can mean different things to each of us. For some seniors, staying in their current home is important because of familiar surroundings, neighbours, and connections to their community. For others, changes in health, finances, mobility, or personal circumstances may lead them to consider different housing options.
Taking time to reflect on your current situation can help you identify what support you may need.
Consider asking yourself:
- Is my current housing affordable and sustainable?
- Am I able to safely manage household responsibilities and maintenance?
- Would additional home supports help me remain in my home?
- Am I concerned about accessibility, transportation, or proximity to essential services?
- Would I benefit from learning about other housing options?
You do not need to have all the answers before reaching out for information.
The WE Seniors Outreach Department recognizes that housing concerns can be complex and that each person’s circumstances are unique.
Our team can help seniors explore their concerns, identify potential resources, and make referrals to appropriate community organizations. Whether you are looking for information about housing affordability, home supports, or navigating a change in your living situation, we encourage you to reach out.
Asking for information is an important first step. You deserve to feel informed and supported when making decisions about your housing and your future.
