WESAC Outreach Can Help Connect You To Free CRA Tax Clinics
Through the Community Volunteer Income Tax Program (CVITP), community organizations host free tax clinics where volunteers complete tax returns for people with a modest income and a simple tax situation.
Our Outreach workers can help you search for a free tax clinic near you that will suit your needs. Some of the clinics offer in-person meetings, phone meetings, or virtual meetings depending on the situation.

Did you know? ICANSA, our Alberta Seniors Alliance partner, has been offering free income tax services to low-income seniors for the past three years. We’re excited to announce that they’ll be offering in-person, free tax filing services here at WSAC!

Appointments are recommended for our tax clinic to avoid waiting, but we also welcome walk-ins on a first-come, first-served basis.

ELIGIBILITY
Modest Income:
- 1 person: maximum income $35,000
- 2 persons: maximum income $45,000
- 3 – 5 persons: add $2,500 for each additional person
- More than 5 people: $52,500 + $2,500 for each additional person
Simple Tax Situation:
No income
OR, income from these sources:
- Employment income
- Pension
- Registered retirement savings plans (RRSPs)
- Interest (under $1,000)
- Benefits (e.g., Canada Pension Plan, old age security, disability insurance, employment insurance, and social
assistance) - Scholarships, fellowships, bursaries, or grants
NOTE: CVITP volunteers CANNOT assist with tax returns involving capital gains/losses, foreign property (T1135), or foreign income, except in certain circumstances.
