Lindsey Machona – A champion for a better future in Edmonton Northwest

Lindsey is a devoted community leader, advocate, and mentor with a proven record of service. With a strong passion for empowerment, leadership, and social progress, Lindsey has spent years working with individuals and communities both locally and internationally to foster growth, resilience, and meaningful change, and has dedicated her life to making a difference.

As the Liberal Candidate for Edmonton Northwest, Lindsey understands what it takes to create good jobs, support families and small businesses, and build a better future for everyone. Lindsey is running because she believes in practical leadership, inclusive policies, and forward-thinking solutions that reflect the needs of the people in Edmonton Northwest.

Known for her ability to connect with people, bring fresh ideas, and create meaningful impact, she is committed to working with Mark Carney to invest in our middle class and those working hard to join it, grow an economy that works for everyone, protect a clean environment, and keep Canada moving forward.

Although Lindsey now proudly calls Edmonton home, she brings a wealth of diverse experiences from her humble beginning in Zimbabwe. As a leader in the non-profit sector in Canada, working on projects locally and globally to eradicate poverty, she has seen firsthand the power of collaboration, resource mobilization, and strong communities in creating opportunity. Her experience in partnership development, government, and diplomatic relations has equipped her with the skills to navigate complex systems, build bridges across sectors, and advocate effectively for policies that uplift communities both locally and globally.

With a Bachelor of Arts in English, a Post-Graduate Diploma in Media and Communication Studies, and pursuing a master’s degree in Community Engagement from the University of Alberta, Lindsey brings both academic depth and real-world experience to the table. She has completed courses in Community and International Development, sharpening her understanding of what it takes to create thriving, resilient communities.

A nominee and recipient of several leadership awards, Lindsey currently sits on the board of The Alberta Council for Global Cooperation and has represented Alberta and Canada at the United Nations. Lindsey is also a sought-after keynote speaker and panel moderator, using her voice to advocate for equity, leadership, and positive change and will make sure the voices of
the people in Edmonton Northwest are heard in Ottawa.

Lindsey has witnessed both the opportunities and challenges that middle-class families face every day. With experience as a mother, raising three children with her husband, a worker, and a dedicated community advocate, Lindsey understands the priorities of Edmonton Northwest. Whether it’s supporting entrepreneurs, advocating for more accessible childcare, or ensuring strong social programs, she is ready to be a trusted voice in government.

The families of Edmonton Northwest need an authentic, passionate, and results driven Member of Parliament who will champion a stronger middle class and build an economy that works for all Canadians.

Omar Abubakar – In It For You

Omar was born in Ottawa but has been a proud Edmontonian for the past 17 years. Omar has put down roots and dedicated his career to strengthening and empowering people and the community.

In 2015 he earned a Bachelor of Business Administration degree from NAIT and in 2022 he earned an MBA in Community Economic Development from Cape Breton University.

He worked as a dispatcher for cab service during the rise of Uber and learned firsthand how workers struggled to adapt to a changing industry, and he pushed for a better working environment and job security.

In 2017 Omar co-founded Kulan Horn Youth Services in Edmonton – a nonprofit organization dedicated to helping young people overcome challenges and pursue their passions.

For seven years the non-profit has delivered gang prevention programs, fentanyl awareness campaigns, mental health initiatives, resume workshops, and scam prevention education for newcomers. Omar’s tireless support for those who need it most has made a lasting impact in the Edmonton community.

With his record of community service and a deep understanding of the challenges facing working families, Omar is ready to be a bold and effective voice for Edmonton Northwest.

The last year has shown that when you send New Democrats to Ottawa, we get results.

Jagmeet and I will keep fighting for you.
