What a wonderful day we had at The Waterford of Summerlea! Our Friends of WSAC partners hosted a fun and friendly Cribbage Tournament, and it turned out to be a full house of laughter, great company, and good food.

Trevor, the General Manager, gave everyone a lovely tour of the residence, showing us the one-bedroom and two-bedroom suites, plus a guest suite with a balcony. He also introduced their service packages — our members were impressed and said Trevor was clear, engaging, and easy to follow.

Jessica, the Recreation Coordinator, had everything beautifully prepared. We had 18 players in total — two of their residents couldn’t make it at the last minute, but luckily, a few of our members had brought friends “just in case.” Smart thinking! Jessica even worked with one of the players, Ross, to figure out how to keep the game going smoothly without a multiple of four.

Coffee and tea were available throughout the day, and everyone enjoyed a delicious lunch of cream of cauliflower soup, assorted sandwiches, and chocolate cake for dessert — nobody left hungry! We played three games before lunch and two after, making it a full day of fun.

Big congratulations to our three winning teams, especially Liz and Ross from the Westend Seniors Activity Centre, who took 1st place this time! They played at The Waterford’s last tournament but didn’t win then — what a comeback!

A special thank-you also goes out to Bella, a placement student from the University of Alberta, who helped mark scores and kept everything running smoothly.

It was such a fun afternoon for everyone — great games, friendly faces, and wonderful hospitality from The Waterford team. We’ll definitely plan another one, so if you missed this tournament, stay tuned for the next!
