The Conversation Project

Join Dr. Rokosh as she will go through the trajectory of illness, options for medical care available and how to start conversations/share decisions with family and the medical team. It is a presentation from a physician perspective highlighting the need for understanding what can be offered and what the options are if one’s health takes a turn for the worse and one is facing crossroads.

Dr. Elizabeth Rokosh is the current Facility Medical Director at Misericordia Hospital and a specialist in Critical Care and Internal Medicine. She graduated from the University of Ottawa in 1995 and completed her residencies in 2000. She has been with Misericordia ever since and is passionate about patient care, especially through complex illnesses and end-of-life care.

The presentation was a result of a Sister Legacy Project at the Misericordia.

Joshua P. Jackson

Barrister and Solicitor, HTM Law

Choosing an Executor – How to Avoid Common Pitfalls

Even if a Will is straightforward and precise, the selection of an inappropriate executor may delay the administration of an estate. My presentation will focus on who can be an executor, things you ought to consider when choosing an executor and the roles and responsibilities of an executor once appointed. I will review some unintended consequences of choosing the “wrong executor”.

Joshua Jackson is a lawyer with HTM Law and has been practicing law since 2014. His practice focuses on real estate, estate planning and estate administration. Josh enjoys problem solving, offers practical solutions tailored to his client’s individual needs and enjoys hearing his client’s stories. Josh grew up on an acreage, helped his parents raise appaloosa horses and loves the outdoors. In his free time, Josh can be found hiking in the backcountry or racing on the North Saskatchewan River in a dragonboat.
