Cooking for yourself or just one other person can be challenging. Join us for a practical and interactive session designed to make cooking enjoyable, accessible, and manageable for one or two people. Learn from professionals and gain ideas you can put into practice at home, with an optional hands-on cooking workshop.
Note: Seniors may register for the presentation and/or the hands-on cooking workshop. The hands-on workshop is limited to 10 participants.

Presented by Population and Public Health Dietitian, AHS
Are you looking for quick, nourishing meal and snack ideas? Join our interactive nutrition class for adults who want simple meals for one or two people. In this session, you’ll learn easy meal planning strategies, healthy recipes with minimal ingredients, time-saving cooking tips and ways to reduce food waste and save money. Whether you’re cooking for yourself or sharing meals with a partner, you’ll leave with ideas to simplify healthy eating.
Amy Shmyr is a Registered Dietitian with Alberta Health Services. She works as part of a team of nutrition consultants for health care professionals and educators. She enjoys helping people discover simple, practical and delicious ways to eat well.

2:45 – 4:15 p.m. | A hands-on Cooking Workshop
Presented by Edmonton Meals on Wheels
Delicious meals don’t have to be expensive or complicated! Come learn how to prepare an inexpensive, memorable, flavourful, and healthy meal for family and friends with minimal preparation, alongside Chef Jason.
Jason is Certified Chef de Cuisine(CCC) and Red seal Endorsed (RSE) chef with over 36 years of experience in food industry and currently the Executive Chef at Edmonton Meals on Wheels and enjoys sharing his vast knowledge to help people understand memorable doesn’t have to break the budget.
Note: The hands-on workshop is limited to 10 participants.   We asked participants in the hands-on cooking workshop to bring their own reusable food containers to take home the food they prepare.

Cost: $3.00 for the presentation (includes coffee & snack)
Hands-on Cooking Workshop: Additional $5.00 — limited to 10 participants
