1:45 – 2:30 p.m. – UCA’s Power Hour: Understanding Utilities in Alberta
Presented by Ashley White, Government of Alberta
Looking to save money on electricity, natural gas, and water utilities? The Utilities Consumer Advocate (UCA), part of the Ministry of Affordability and Utilities, offers free resources to help Albertans make informed decisions, compare utility options, and reduce usage. This session is open to everyone and designed to provide useful, unbiased information to help you manage your utility costs more effectively.
This presentation supports energy and financial literacy and will cover:

Practical ways to reduce utility usage

Understanding utility bills, reading meters, and spotting utility scams

How to shop for utilities and compare rates

The Winter Utilities Reconnection Program

2:30 to 3:15 p.m. – Fraud Prevention
Presented by Lyle Falk, Service Alberta and Red Tape Reduction
Service Alberta and Red Tape Reduction will provide information and tips to protect consumers form frauds and scams. Raise awareness and identify recent frauds. This will include the top frauds reported and what you should do should you recognize the top frauds. Will also cover identity theft and best practice for safe computer use.

MEET THE PRESENTERS
Lyle Falk joined Service Alberta’s Utilities Consumer Advocate in 2005 as a Policy Analyst. In 2007 he moved to the Consumer Programs area and is the Senior Program Specialist. With 20 years experience in Consumer Programs, his current role is responsible for raising awareness of consumer issues and providing consumer education products for Alberta businesses and consumers.
