VOLUNTEER SPOTLIGHT

At WE Seniors, we’re fortunate to have an incredible group of people you’ve likely met, spoken with, or received help from at one time or another — our volunteers. We thought you might enjoy learning a little more about them: what inspired them to volunteer with us, what brought them here, and the experiences they’ve had as part of our community.

What do you think are your three greatest strengths?

Always thinking ahead. Mechanically inclined. Creative

 

If you could have any superpower, which one would you choose?

Ability to melt snow

 

What made you want to volunteer at our centre?

I was previously involved in construction with a mechanical background. After retiring, I felt like I was losing my edge and needed a new challenge.

 

What is your proudest accomplishment?

Living

 

What’s one thing most people don’t know about you?

No criminal record

 

What did you do before retiring?

Sprinkler fitter, pipe fitter, carpentry background. I do a lot of my own home renovations.

 

What is your favourite thing about volunteering at our centre?

All of the people

 

Why do you think people should consider volunteering in general?

To stay active both physically and mentally

 

What are some of your hobbies when you are not volunteering?

Art. Music. Suduko

 

Anything else you would like to share?

Gratification from helping people out. I enjoy preparing people to safely use equipment in the workshop
