Join us for an informative session designed to help older adults feel more confident using the internet and recognize potential risks. Our speakers will cover fraud and scams, internet safety, privacy and ways to protect your personal information and devices.

Presented by Detective Roxanne Heppner, Edmonton Police Service – Financial Crimes Section

Join Detective Heppner for an informative look at the latest trends in fraud and scams. Learn how to recognize common scams, protect yourself from becoming a victim, and what steps to take if you have already been scammed. The session will conclude with a Q&A, giving you an opportunity to ask questions and get practical advice.

Detective Roxanne Heppner has worked for the EPS for over 15 years and has experience in cyber and financial fraud.

Presented by Christy Travis, Community Librarian, the Lois Hole (Callingwood) Library

In this informative presentation, you will be introduced to the risks involved in using the internet as well as ways to identify threats and protect yourself, your information, and your devices.

Bring your own device! You are welcome to bring the laptop, tablet or phone you use most often. You can follow along with some of the practical tips Christy will be demonstrating during the presentation.

Christy Travis is a Community Librarian with the Lois Hole (Callingwood) Library. She has worked for EPL for 16 years. Her areas of expertise include adult programming, customer service and community outreach. 

Whether you use the internet every day or are just getting started, you’ll learn practical tips you can use in your everyday life and have a chance to ask questions and speak with our presenters.
