TOONIE TALK – Retirement Income Decumulation
Presentation by Research Capital – Wei Woo
2022 has been a very challenging year for the financial markets, with the majority of investment portfolios down.
2023 has been a tale of two markets, with certain parts of the market recovering, while other investments considered traditionally safe, doing poorly. At the same time, it has made many current retirees question some of the most important aspects of their ongoing retirement, such as how long will my money last.
Am I going to be okay with the worst Bond market in modern history (still ongoing as of Fall 2023)? How much can I spend so I will not run out of money? Which of my assets should I spend first? How much will be left for my children? How does higher inflation than the previous decades affect my financial future? Are my retirement numbers and assumptions used in previous financial plans wrong, or need to be adjusted?
Come join Wei Woo (Investment Advisor, CIM, EPC) as we go through these questions, and share a sample retirement income plan used as an example for a person in retirement. 2024 is the time to either revisit or create new retirement projections numbers to reflect the current financial reality.
