UNIQUE & INTERESTING WINES TO TRY

Our Somm Ken was perusing our shelves recently and wants to share some unique finds with you.
We’re always trying to bring in interesting products, and sometimes we even forget what we have! Here are a few good ones you may want to get before they’re gone. With limited shelf space, we do like to keep things refreshed.  Here’s the selection while supplies last –
Montes Creek Hands Up Red – An unorthodox blend of Frontenac Noir, Merlot and Cabernet Franc from Thompson Okanagan Valley, B.C. $21.99
Domaine Reine Juliette Picpoul De Pinet – A crisp refreshing white wine from Languedoc Region of France $22.49
Duca Di Saragnano Nero Di Troia – From the rare Uva di Troia grape grown in limited quantities in Puglia, Italy $20.99
Grey Owl Haskap Melomel – A locally made Mead featuring Haskap berries sometimes known as Honey berries $27.99
Flor Del Desidierto Sotol – From Chihuahua, Mexico, sotols are from the Dasiylirion Leiophyllum plant and cooked in shallow pits. Savoury with sage smoke notes and leather with some salinity and black peppercorn. $94.95

3 SUMMER COCKTAILS TO ENJOY!

GIN FROSE

  • 1 x 750 ml bottle Pinot Noir Rosé
  • 2 tbsp (30 ml) sugar
  • 4 oz (120 ml) Malfy Con Rosa Gin
  • 2 cups (500 ml) fresh summer berries (such as raspberries and/or sliced strawberries), plus more, for garnish

One day before serving, freeze wine in ice cube trays. To serve, blend wine ice, sugar, gin and berries until smooth and slushy. Pour into wine glasses or tumblers and garnish with fresh berries. – Serves 8

JAMAICAN DAQUIRI

  • 2 ounces Appleton Estate Rum
  • ¾ ounce lime juice
  • ½ ounce Simple Demerara Syrup*

Add all ingredients to a Shaker with ice. Shake until well chilled. Strain into a Coupe glass and garnish with a twist of lime

Serves 1

GREEK SPRITZER

  • 2 ounces Metaxa 5 Star Brandy
  • 1 ounce Cointreau ( or Triple Sec) orange liqueur
  • Soda Water

 

Mix the brandy and orange liqueur in a tall glass with ice. Top with soda water to taste.
