After our gym closed, we needed an exercise program to motivate us, as we know we do not grow old and get stiff, but grow stiff and old!
We found the Westend Seniors Activity Centre program online and available to us even though we were not members. The exercises and the color printout with actual photos were clearly geared for the older body, easy to follow, and maintained every part of our bodies. We did these exercises from March through the summer, indoors and in our back yard. My husband was able to modify them with his physical limitations.
In late October, we were in a very serious car accident. We credit the fact that doing these regular all encompassing exercises had kept our bodies in shape so well, they helped prevent the substantial injuries we may have otherwise had, and thankfully accounted for a better and quicker recovery.
Recently we found that these exercises had been put into actual videos, which are even more helpful. These YouTube videos helped us to finetune our exercises, as they illustrate how we were doing some things incorrectly, and also explained modifications. BRAVO!! Thank you so much for sharing the program!
We even recommended this exemplary program to our instructor from the Alberta Cancer Exercise Study or ACE program that my husband had taken over Zoom. It is a great follow up when those exercises end.
On another note, we know folks who prefer to join the Westend Seniors rather than their local one, because your programs are so extensive. Finally, we do hope that your online programs continue, as we have learned how they can be such a wonderful resource when we live in a remote area like my friend in St Paul who also follows them on our recommendation, cannot get out of our homes if we are ill, and so much easier to do when the local roads are icy.
Westend Seniors are an amazing example of the programs that can be done and should be offered.
Thanks so much!!
