Lorena Smalley

Thank you to everyone who stepped up to help with OBB and to those volunteers that will continue to work over the summer to keep things running smoothly at the centre. We have a couple of new positions that we have created to better serve our members and are looking for people with some special skills to help us out. Have a look at the position descriptions and let us know if you might be interested.

Tech Education Volunteer

  • You are someone who is very comfortable using a variety of “tech” and would love to share that knowledge with others
  • Ideally, this volunteer would be available at the same time each week between the hours of 9:00 am and 3:00 pm M-F for a 2-3 hour drop-in time.

Workshop Assistant

  • This volunteer will assist the centre in keeping our workshop safe and accessible to our members. There must always be at least two people in the workshop so that if someone is hurt, the second person can notify staff.
  • Available for 2-3 hour regular shifts 1-2 days per week

Workshop Volunteer Instructor

  • You are someone who has years of experience either as a profession or a hobby in woodworking, small repairs or just tinkering.
  • You have valuable skills to share with others and enjoy the social and learning aspect of sharing these skills.
  • A 2-3 hour presentation or class on a specific project every 1-2 months – this is flexible and we would work together with you on what specific ideas you might have for these events
