Volunteers

Summer Plant Maintenance – indoor and outdoor:
We are looking for some assistance with plant watering and care over the summer both for our outdoor plants on the deck and for our indoor plants. This could be once or twice a week for about 1 1/2 hours from June until mid August for indoor and June until the end of the growing season outdoors.  Please fill out the volunteer application and choose plant maintenance if you are interested.

New Position – Callingwood Farmers Market Volunteer 
WSAC is very happy to be able to participate at the Callingwood Farmers Market this year on select dates through the summer. We will have been offered a table 3 Wednesdays and 3 Sundays June through August and are looking for volunteers to assist with this. Each date we will have one volunteer and one staff member attending to provide information about the centre’s programs and services. Events

Older Bolder Better 50/50 draw:
Help support our Older Bolder Better event and get your tickets while they last. This is sure to be a big prize with ticket sales starting on May 17 / 23 and running through event day on June 8/23. The draw will be on June 9/23. Tickets options will be:

– 1 ticket for $5 – 3 tickets for $10 – 10 tickets for $25 They can be purchased at the centre or through the Rafflebox website. Good luck!

Summer Solstice Celebration:
Spring is finally here and summer is close behind! This year we want to honour our beautiful outdoors with a Summer Solstice Celebration. This will be a multi-generational event so please bring your families – children, grandchildren, nieces, nephews, neighbours – whoever you would enjoy the outdoors with. We will have Painted Parrot face painting on hand along with marigold planting, outside activities for all ages, firepits (conditions permitting) and a make your own pizza station on the deck. Roots for Trees and other organizations will be on hand to tell you what you can do to help with conservation in your neighbourhood. We will also have some great prizes you can win. Wednesday June 21, 2023 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm.

Tickets are available now and must be pre-purchased – Non- Member – $18, Member – $15 Child – $ 11. Ticket deadline – June 14.

New Member Tea
Please join us for our New Member Tea. This event is to welcome anyone to the centre who has recently purchased a membership and would like to know more about the centre. It will give you an opportunity to ask questions, hear about our programs and services and meet some of our staff. It will take place on the first Wednesday of each month at 10:00 am.and is free to attend. Please register to attend at the front desk. Upcoming dates will be June 7 and July 5.

Potluck
Our potlucks are the last Thursday of the month from 5:00 to 7:00 pm in our bright and beautiful cafe. Join us for a tasty meal and perhaps play some board games afterwards. There is a $2 drop in fee but first time visitors are free. Please bring a dish to share. You can expect excellent conversation, the opportunity to try some new food and to meet some wonderful new people. Upcoming Potluck Dates -June 29 and July 27.

Birthday Party
Join us on the 3rd Wednesday of each month to celebrate your birthday. Pre-registration will be required for you and your guests. We will have a limited capacity of 50 people and we may not be able to accommodate you if you are not registered. You can either call or stop in at our front desk to register. Birthday celebrants are free but there is a $2 drop in fee for guests. Upcoming Birthday Party Dates: June 21 and July 19
