Go Back

Lorena Smalley

We are already in the middle of January and the good news is that our weather has been outstanding here in Edmonton.  I am hoping that you were able to get out and enjoy some mild winter conditions.  In saying that, we are still coping with the pandemic and all the safety measures that are put in place.  Wearing masks, washing hands, hand sanitizer and the list goes on.

If you are feeling COVID fatigue you are not alone.  Many of us are finding it challenging and a lot of us are feeling isolated not only because we cannot see our family and friends but possibly the building you live in has set up protocols that don’t allow you to go out.  If you or someone you know is experiencing COVID fatigue or burnout, please call me at 780 454-2465 or email at shirley@weseniors.ca.  Together we can come up with a plan or activity that may help with the day to day dullness of not being able to see family and friends or go out regularly.

It is important to stay active, even if this by joining an online class or walking up and down the hallways of your apartment (if allowed).  Also, it is important to talk to others.  The Westend Seniors Activity Centre’s Friendly Phone Call program, Joyful Chats, Support Groups allow you to do that.   I encourage you to call me if you are feeling like you need to connect to someone or something.

If you or someone you know is in need of resources, referrals or supports, please call our Outreach Department 780 454-2465 or email shirley@weseniors.ca

I want to wish you a happy new year and a blessed 2021!
