We Seniors Outreach Can Help Connect You To Free CRA Tax Clinics
Through the Community Volunteer Income Tax Program (CVITP), community organizations host free tax clinics where volunteers complete tax returns for people with a modest income and a simple tax situation.
Our Outreach workers can help you search for a free tax clinic near you that will suit your needs. Some of the clinics offer in-person meetings, phone meetings, or virtual meetings depending on the situation.

Did you know? ICAN Seniors Association (ICANSA), our Alberta Seniors Alliance partner, has been offering free income tax services to low-income seniors for the last four years. We’re excited to announce that they’ll be offering in-person, free tax filing services here at WE Seniors Edmonton!

ELIGIBILITY
Modest Income:
- person $40,000
- 2 people $55,000
- 3 people $60,000
- 4 people $65,000
- 5 people $70,000
- More than 5 people $70,000, plus $5,000 for each additional person
Simple Tax Situation:
No income
OR, income from these sources:
- employment
- pension
- benefits, such as the Canada Pension Plan, Old Age Security, disability insurance, employment insurance, and social assistance
- Registered Retirement Savings Plans (RRSPs)
- scholarships, fellowships, bursaries, or grants
- interest (under $1,200)
NOTE: CVITP volunteers CANNOT assist with tax returns involving capital gains/losses, foreign property (T1135), or foreign income, except in certain circumstances.

Appointments are highly recommended. If bookings are full, walk-ins may not be accepted.
Volunteers will conduct a brief screening and confirm your appointment by phone if you meet the CRA eligibility criteria for the free tax clinic.
