WSAC Proof of Vaccination Poll Result

We recently conducted a poll asking if we should continue to request proof of vaccination to everyone entering our centre. Below are the results.

479 responses

  • 402 (84%) people support that we continue asking for proof of vaccination.
  • 77 (16%) people do not support proof of vaccine requirement

Thank you to everyone who completed our poll.

Based on this result, here are our COVID policies effective on Monday, March 21, 2022

INDIVIDUALS WHO ARE NOT FULLY VACCINATED (1 DOSE OR LESS)

  • You are not allowed to enter our centre.

NEGATIVE TEST BUT STILL HAVE SYMPTOMS

  1. Do not enter our building.
  2. You are legally required to stay home and isolate for at least 5 days from when you first started having symptoms of COVID-19
  3. You must keep isolating until your symptoms have improved and you have been fever-free for 24 hours without the use of fever-reducing medication.

IF YOU TEST POSITIVE FOR COVID-19

  1. You are legally required to stay home and isolate for at least 5 days from when you first started having symptoms of COVID-19 or had your positive test (if you never had symptoms).
  2. You must keep isolating until your symptoms have improved and you have been fever-free for 24 hours without the use of fever-reducing medication.
  3. When returning to our centre, you must wear a mask in public places when unable to maintain a two meter distance from others, until 10 days have passed from when your symptoms began or you tested positive.

Anyone caught violating the above requirements will have their membership suspended

Mask Policy in the centre

The City of Edmonton has lifted its Temporary Mandatory Face Coverings bylaw, effective immediately. This means as of March 8th, 2022, all persons entering the building – including but not restricted to staff, members, instructors, students, volunteers, contractors, and renters – are no longer required to wear a mask. However, wearing a face mask is strongly encouraged.

Wearing a mask is a personal choice. Some members of the centre may wish to continue wearing a mask while in the building, while others will choose to remove theirs. We ask that you continue to show respect for your fellow members, volunteers, and staff.
Please be mindful of those around you, and remember that each person will have a different level of comfort as we ease into these changes.

We encourage all members to conduct a self-assessment before they come to the centre and ask them to postpone their visit if feeling unwell.

Sincerely,

Your WE Seniors Team
