OLDER BOLDER BETTER is our biggest fundraising event of the year and we are very excited to host it again this year on Thursday June 6, 2024.
We are looking for assistance from our volunteers in many different areas to make it a fantastic event.

June 5, 2024 – Business Mixer
Greeter – shift 4:00 p.m. to 5: 30 p.m.
- Greet business owners who are coming in to set up for OBB
- Direct business owners to their tables – provide map
Food Service – shift 4:45 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.
- Assist kitchen staff with plating food and serving to guests
- Assist kitchen staff with clean up
June 6, 2024 – Older Bolder Better
Greeter – Shifts available – 8:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. OR 11:30 a.m. – 2:00 p.m.
- Direct vendors to gym
- Hand out business directories
- Answer questions
Info Tables – Shifts available – 9:30 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. OR 12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m.
- Provide information on WSAC programs, volunteer opportunities, meal programs, events etc.
- You will have lots of information provided to you along with a list of frequently asked questions and answers
50/50 and Lunch ticket sellers – Shifts available – 9:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. OR 11:30 a.m.to 2:00 p.m.
- We will be selling 50/50 tickets throughout the day as well as pre-selling lunch tickets to avoid line ups in the cafe. There will be two locations – the games room and outside the gym – with 2 volunteers at each location per shift
- Cashier position – processing cash and credit card payments
- Ticket handler – will fill out purchaser information on tickets
Picture Takers – 8:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. OR 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. OR 12:30 p.m. to 2:30 p.m.
- Visit different areas of the centre and take candid pictures on your smartphone
- Submit pictures to staff after the event
- 3 volunteers needed
Food Prep – Shifts available – 9:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.
- Assisting with food prep for lunch
Food Service – Shifts available – 11:00 a.m. – 1:30 p.m.
- Taking meal tickets and serving lunch
Vendor Lunch Delivery Shifts available 11:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.
- We will have many vendors pre-order and pre-pay for their meals so that they don’t need to leave their tables
- Delivering food to vendors inside and at the outdoor market
- 4 volunteers needed
Coffee – 8:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. OR 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. OR 12:30 p.m. to 2:30 p.m.
- Making coffee, ensuring all condiments and supplies are kept replenished through the day.
- We will have a coffee station in the cafe as well as in the games room with one volunteer assigned to each station per shift
- Clean up of coffee station at end of day for 12:30-2:30 pm shift
Clean Up – 2:00 p.m. to 3:30 p.m.
- Assist with putting away tables and chairs throughout the centre
- 6 volunteers needed
Vendor Lunch Delivery Shifts available 11:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.
- We will have many vendors pre-order and pre-pay for their meals so that they don’t need to leave their tables
- Delivering food to vendors inside and at the outdoor market
- 4 volunteers needed
Floater – Shifts available – 9:30 a.m. to 11:00 am OR 11:00 am to 12:30 pm OR 12:30 p.m. to 2:00 p.m.
- Checking in with other volunteers who can’t leave their stations to see if they need change for their floats, bathroom breaks, coffee etc.
- 1 volunteer needed per shift
